Today we... discussed the meaning of Pink Shirt Day and did a related journaling activity, watched the assembly on kindness, had music with Ms. Bohan, represented fractions in various ways, discussed resilience and wrote about a time we showed resilience, read from A Wolf Called Wander. Here is some important infomation about our upcoming Read-A-Thon: With a new season just around the corner, let’s SPRING into reading! Our 6 th annual Copperfield Read-A-Thon will take place from March 4 th - 1 5 th and you can already begin to gather sponsors to collect pledges for books read by students. The amount that sponsors choose to donate is up to you! Throughout our Read-A-Thon, students will have the opportunity to participate in having guest readers join their classes virtually and in person. Today we... listened to a book called 'Trying' and discussed how it related to resilience, worked on our poems related to Alberta's regions, had music with Ms. Bohan, did a math activity called 'Which one doesn't belong', learned different ways to represent fractions, created fraction strips, started performing our shadow puppet shows, and read from A Wolf Called Wander. Today we... read in our reading groups, worked on poetry using figurative language that is related to the Alberta regions, read from 'A Wolf called Wander', went to the pond to sketch on our phenology wheels, playued multiplication bingo, and began the 'Minecraft Education - Level Up, Calgary' challenge. Today we... discussed what the word resiliency means and did a related activity, brainstormed words related to the 5 senses for a poetry activity, read from 'A Wolf called Wander', played a math game called 'Closest to the Target', examined and created a dot plot graph, practiced our science shadow puppet show, and had music with Ms. Bohan. UPDATES & REMINDERS: There is an environment club meeting tomorrow. Next Wednesday, February 28th is Pink Shirt Day.

Today we... played a game involving identifying the correct vowel digraphs, finished up work that was started throughout the week, read from 'A Wolf called Wander', played multiplication BINGO, and we had a class meeting. UPDATES & REMINDERS: Next week is a short week (no school Thursday or Friday due to Teacher's Convention) and no school Monday, February 19th (Family Day). If your child wishes to send in Valentine's cards, please ensure you send 1 for every student (22 students in total). Also, please no food/candy items due to allergies. Thank you!

Today we... talked about digital citizenship, read many books related to Black History Month and we recorded the who, what, when, where, why, and how about a particular book, exchanged our books at the library, played a game of Math splat, completed a survey related to multiple intelligences, worked on our shadow puppet performances, and we shared a few of our Alberta regions presentations. Today we... read the story 'The Invisible Boy' and discussed how one small act of kindness can have a huge impact on someone else, created a journal page on ways we can show kindness to ourselves, our classmates, people in our school, our families, and our communities, learned about similes and metaphors and read some poems with examples of each, read from A Wolf called Wander, examing a bar graph about which provinces and territories consume the most Kraft Dinner, collected data and made a bar graph to represent the data, worked on the finishing touches of our Alberta regions project, and started creating shadow puppets for our story retells. UPDATES & REMINDERS: February is kindness month!! We will be doing many activities related to promoting kindness.
