 Today we... played Boggle and created many words for our literacy activity, read the story 'The Giving Tree' and discussed the message of the book, created an illustration for the novel we are reading called 'A Whale of the Wild', made growing and shrinking patterns and guessed our partners pattern, performed our song for the grade 4 assembly and had a class meeting. UPDATES & REMINDERS - No school tomorrow for National Truth and Reconciliation Day, Fun Lunch is next Wednesday, October 4th, and next Friday is the Terry Fox Run (please bring in twoonies for Terry).  
 Today we... played a literacy game unscrambling letters to make words, read a story called 'The Water Protectors' and did a writing activity about it, tried an esti-mystery and went on to BrainPop to practice multiplication, wrote examples of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste materials for science, listened to the story 'Every Child Matters' in the Copper Gallery, and practiced for the assembly tomorrow. UPDATES & REMINDERS: Tomorrow is Orange Shirt Day... please wear an orange shirt or a favourite shirt.  Our assembly is tomorrow starting at 2:00pm (parents are welcome to watch).  No school Friday.
 Today we... did a literacy activity called Vocab. Building, read the story 'Shi-shi-etko' and discussed what she did with her family, what she learned from her family, and what she included in her memory bag, practiced using different strategies for solving multiplication, learned about phenology wheels and went outside to sketch part of our wheel, and began the book called 'A Whale of the Wild. REMINDERS & UPDATES - Orange shirt day is on Thursday and our grade 4 assembly for National Truth and Reconciliation Day (starts at 2pm).  Also, we have library each week on Tuesday.
 Today we... did a journaling activity about 'Every Child Matters' and 'I matter because..." , had an assembly about the Acknowledging the Land', wrote about where we feel most connected to the land, played multiplication BUMP using the 2x table, read a story called 'This is how I know' and discussed how we know each season is coming, and we learned about the science terms biodegradable and non-biodegradable. UPDATES: It is National Truth and Reconciliation Week, Thursday is Orange Shirt Day and our Grade 4 assembly starting at 2:00pm.  No school Friday.
 REMINDER to fill out the online demographic form from MYCBE, if you haven't done so already.
 Today we... painted our animal masks, did an activity called 'Hexagonal Thinking', played team games outside for gym, worked on an activity about finding patterns, continued writing our paragraphs related to the story 'Sometimes I feel like a fox', and practiced our song for the assembly in music. REMINDERS:  Conferences and the book fair are tomorrow and Friday (no school Friday), and next week we will be doing many activities related to National Truth and Reconciliation Day, including wearing orange shirts Thursday, and our assembly held on Thursday at 2:05pm in the gym.
 Today we... had our first fire drill, we created our animal mask blueprints, then started glueing them together and writing our paragraphs, we got our Google Classroom up and running, and played some math games, we read a story called 'Not my Girl' and created a heart that will be on display during our assembly next week for Orange Shirt Day. UPDATES: Picture day tomorrow, parent/teacher conferences Thursday and Friday.  Next Thursday is Orange Shirt Day and the grade 4s will be hosting an assembly Thursday afternoon starting at 2:05pm.  
 Today we... did a would you rather journal writing activity, we had our virtual field trip, we played team games in gym, we played multiplication squares and discussed multiplication strategies, we presented our One Plastic Bag challenge and sorted various waste into the correct containers. REMINDERS: Bring back library books tomorrow, picture day is Wednesday, book fair and conferences are Thursday and Friday... no school Friday!
 Today we... played a literacy game called 'Slap' where you had to identify words that were nouns, adjectives, and verbs, we had catch up time to finish any incomplete work, we learned a new math activity called Multiplication squares, and we had a class meeting. UPDATES & REMINDERS: Please visit the book fair during parent/teacher conferences which are next Thursday evening and Friday during the day (no school Friday), and school photos are on Wednesday, September 20th. Hope you all have a great weekend!!
 Today we... worked on our heart creation that will be displayed in our hallway, we started writing a paragraph related to the story 'Sometimes I feel like a fox', we worked on math problems related to patterns, we worked in groups to use comprehension skills to determine the meaning of unfamiliar words related to National Truth and Reconciliation Day, and we finished up our 'One Plastic Bag' challenge.  REMINDER:  Next week is parent/teacher conferences and the book fair!!  I look forward to meeting your parents.
 Today we... used the primary colours to make the colours of the rainbow for our idea for the classroom 'Copperfield heart', we read a story called 'Sometimes I Feel Like a Fox' and brainstormed which animal we felt we resembled in character traits, we continued working on the v-pattern challenge, we examined a map of residential schools in Canada and discussed it, and we did a scientific sketch of a lily.  Today we... made words using the letters from 'Copperfield has heart', we read the story 'When I was Eight' and wrote a character sketch about Olemaun, we signed books out from the library, we did a math challenge called 'V-patterns', we sketching in our journals about helpful and harmful things we observed outside, and finally, we made creations out of plastic bags. Thank you to those of you who have already brought back your Personalized Learning Profile!
 Today we... played a literacy activity called 'Word Ladders', worked on a writing activity based on our STEM challenge from last week, played team-building games in gym, tried a math challenge called 'The Graceful Tree Problem', read a story called 'When we Were Alone' and discussed the important events from the story and how they relate to National Truth and Reconciliation Day, and finished the day with music. REMINDERS - we will have our first fire drill next week, our parent/teacher conferences are also next week!
 Today we... did a literacy activity called 'A-Z', we had catch-up time to complete work we did throughout the week, we practiced representing numbers using base-10 blocks, we played outside, and we had a class meeting. UPDATES: Parent/teacher conferences are on September 21 and 22 (no school on the 22nd), there is a book fair happening during conferences, please bring in personalized profile found on Copperfield webpage, and school photos are on September 20.  
 Today we... played a literacy game called 'Boggle' which requires you to create words using various letters listened to a story called 'Kindness is my Superpower' and wrote about ways to show kindness played tag games in gym used our estimation skills to solve Esti-Mysteries  played a game with dice called 'Tick-Toc, Beat the Clock' continued a graffiti art activity with our names completed a journal activity called 'A Moment in Time'
