Today we... played a literacy game called 'Word Ladders', did a writing activity retelling the important parts of a short film called 'Piper', exchanged our library books, read from 'A Whale of the Wild', practiced using strategies to solve multiplication questions, reviewed how to add and subtract large numbers with borrowing and regrouping, learned about different methods of waste disposal and discussed advantages and disadvantages of each, and did a scientific sketch of flowers and leaves.  

UPDATES & REMINDERS:  Tomorrow is board game club and Thursday is environment club.

HALLOWEEN INFO:  At Copperfield School, students are invited to wear their Halloween costumes in the afternoon on Tuesday, October 31. Students can wear face paint all day and change into their costumes after lunch. Students are to keep important items for their costume at home, no weapons should be brought to school, and for safety reasons students are to wear their mask on top of their head. Classroom activities around Halloween will be connected to curriculum learning and students will still be participating in gym and outdoor recess breaks.  Also, please limit the amount of candy being brought to school.  One treat per day at school is plenty!

 Today we... did a literacy activity where we counted phonemes, worked on our design and build challenge, played a math game skip counting by 5s, completed a check-in to see how we are doing with using multiplication and division strategies, used ChromeBooks to access a resource about the regions of Alberta, and did a journaling activity practicing listening and describing images on the Smartboard. UPDATES & REMINDERS: With Halloween just around the corner, p lease don’t send whole class treats to hand out as we have many students with dietary restrictions, allergies and sanitization expectations makes this a challenging practice.

 Today we... played a literacy game called synonym match up, discussed what 'Talk Moves' are and practiced how to use them, read from our novel 'A Whale of the Wild', found increasing and decreasing patterns using money, did a Google Classroom activity where we had to put the provinces and territories back together using an online puzzle, and we had music.   UPDATES & REMINDERS:  A note went home today regarding a board-game club... if your child is interested, please sign and return the form ASAP.  Please bring in donations for the Terry Fox Run which will be held this Friday.  Fun Lunch is this Wednesday!
