Happy new year and welcome back!! 

Today we... created a word splash about our winter break, listened to a story called 'A Fine, Fine School' and wrote pros and cons about Mr. Keen's idea of going to school EVERYDAY, played addition war, practiced adding large numbers with regrouping, worked on gathering research about the regions of Alberta, and had music with Ms. Bohan.

UPDATES & REMINDERS:  Wednesday is fun lunch.  The CBE policy regarding outdoor recess and weather is that students go out if it is -20 or warmer.  Please make sure your child has the appropriate clothing to go outside in this type of weather.  If it is below -20, students will stay indoors for their recess break!

 Today we... did a literacy activity where we counted phonemes, worked on our design and build challenge, played a math game skip counting by 5s, completed a check-in to see how we are doing with using multiplication and division strategies, used ChromeBooks to access a resource about the regions of Alberta, and did a journaling activity practicing listening and describing images on the Smartboard. UPDATES & REMINDERS: With Halloween just around the corner, p lease don’t send whole class treats to hand out as we have many students with dietary restrictions, allergies and sanitization expectations makes this a challenging practice.

 Today we... played a literacy game called synonym match up, discussed what 'Talk Moves' are and practiced how to use them, read from our novel 'A Whale of the Wild', found increasing and decreasing patterns using money, did a Google Classroom activity where we had to put the provinces and territories back together using an online puzzle, and we had music.   UPDATES & REMINDERS:  A note went home today regarding a board-game club... if your child is interested, please sign and return the form ASAP.  Please bring in donations for the Terry Fox Run which will be held this Friday.  Fun Lunch is this Wednesday!
