  Today we... read in our reading groups, discussed the spring equinox and watched a video of an elder discussing the importance of the event, exchanged our books at the library, learned about comparing fractions with the same denominator, and we created Metis dot art inspired by Metis artist Christi Belcourt. UPDATES & REMINDERS:  Parent/teacher conferences is this Thursday evening and Friday.  Spring break is from March 22 - April 1.  School resumes April 2. March 21 st  is World Down Syndrome Day and we want to celebrate! By wearing your mismatched, funky, colourful patterned socks on Thursday, you are building awareness and showing your support for people who have Down Syndrome in our community.  Today we... discussed the meaning of 'success as an iceburg', wrote a cinquain poem, read from A Wolf called Wander, did our phenology wheel at the pond, sketched and researched more about native plants of Alberta, and played a literacy game of Spring Scattergories. UPDATES & REMINDERS - Parent/teacher conferences are Thursday evening and Friday.  Spring Break is from March 22 - April 1.  School resumes on Tueaday, April 2.  March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day!  To show support, rock your mispatched socks!
 Today we... had a guest reader, Ashley from TOPP Kids, read us a few of her favourite stories, worked on our activity related to the story 'The Collector of Heads', read from A Wolf called Wander, continued to practice finding equivalent fractions, and researched and sketched 4 plants that are native to Alberta. UPDATES & REMINDERS: Tomorrow is pajama day.  Read-a-thon pledges and forms are due next week.  Parent/teacher conferences are next Thursday and Friday.  The last day for students before Spring Break is March 21, and school resumes on Tuesday, April 2.
 Today we... read with our reading groups, created a representation of ourselves related to the book 'The Collector of Heads', played a game called 'fraction race', practiced finding equivalent fractions, had a Calgary Wrangler read us a story, and had music with Ms. Bohan. UPDATES & REMINDER - Tomorrow is Spring photos and Friday is pajama day.  Next Thursday evening and Friday are parent/teacher conferences!
 Today we... played a literacy game called 'Connections', read and learned about cinquain poems, exchanged our books at the library, played a math game involving finding your equivalent fraction partner, tried a Math Pickle challenge called Fraction Snakes, read a book called 'The Collector of Heads' and started a related activity, and worked on our Kinex creations that relate to a science vocabulary word. UPDATES & REMINDERS - Tomorrow is D.E.A.R. day, Thursday is Spring photos, and Friday is pajama day to end off our Read-a-thon.
 Today we... created a representation of someone who inspires us and why, worked on our resilience activity, read from A Wolf called Wander, created fractions using parts of a set, practiced using multiplication to find equivalent fractions, used Kinex to build a creation that demonstrates a specific science vocabulary word, and we had music with Ms. Bohan. UPDATES & REMINDERS - Spring photos are on Thursday, March 14th.  Friday is pajama day to end our Read-A-Thon.  Parent/teacher conferences are next week.
 Today we... read in our reading groups, read about well-known people who have domonstrated resilience and created a journal page about them, read from A Wolf called Wander, played 'Junk It' in math, answered and made some word problems related to Pete's Pizza menu, created fraction art, and played Minecraft Education. UPDATES & REMINDERS:  Tomorrow is flashlight reading day... bring your flashlight!  Spring photos are next Thursday, March 14th.
 Today we... had a guest reader in our class from Open Minds Zoo School who read us a stories and shared some 'biofacts' with us from the zoo, exhanged our books at the library, played 'Sticks and Stones', learned different strategies for finding equivalent fractions, finished our Kinex creations and shared how they connect to the new science vocabulary, and examined and discussed what some famous people had in common, and characteristics they share. UPDATES & REMINDERS:  Tomorrow is Fun Lunch and D.E.A.R. Day.  Friday is flashlight reading (students may bring in a flashlight from home).  Next Thursday, March 14th is Spring Photo Day. Keep up with all the reading you have been doing at home for Read-A-Thon!!
 Today we... shared our compliment hearts, worked on many catch up jobs, read from A Wolf called Wander, played a fraction math game, and had a class meeting. REMINDERS & UPDATES:  Our Read-a-Thon has begun.  Remember to keep track of how many minutes you read each day.  Remember to bring your favourite book to school on Monday!
