 Today we... finished presenting our assignments on Alberta's historical sites, read newspaper articles and identified the who, what, when, where, why, and how, created a version of the math game called 'A-Mazing Operations', researched and gathered information about the benefits and uses of certain types of plants, and had music with Ms.Bohan. UPDATES & REMINDERS:  Our field trip is next Monday, June 3rd.  Please pack a healthy lunch, snacks, water bottle... and of course, dress for the weather!

 Today we... did an activity involving making inferences, finished up publishing our short stories, read from City of Ember, did a math challenge called 'How many triangles do you see?', learned the base ten model for solving multiplication questions, presented our Google Slides and replicas for social studies, and had music with Ms. Bohan. UPDATES & REMINDERS: Next Monday is our field trip to The Confluence Historical Site and Parkland (formerly Fort Calgary).  The bus will leave around 9am in the morning and return back to the school around 2:30pm.  The students will need to dress for the weather (walking shoes too), bring a lunch, snacks, and a water bottle.  Thanks again to those who are volunteering... we currently have the maximum number of volunteers allowed by the establishment.

 Today we... did a quick literacy task involving finding synonyms, read in our reading groups, started our new read aloud 'City of Ember', worked on decomposing numbers to assist with multiplication of larger numbers, had catch up time to work on unfinished assignments and tasks, and had a class meeting. UPDATES & REMINDERS:  No school tomorrow or Monday.  A few students still need to bring in their field trip forms for our upcoming trip to Fort Calgary on June 3.  We will begin our lessons next week on human sexuality.  If you don't want your child to participate, you must return the signed exeption form that was emailed home at the beginning of May.  If no form is returned, than I will assume your child is allowed to participate in the lessons.   Have a fantastic long weekend!

 Today we... learned about types of compound words and played a related literacy activity, worked on writing satisfying endings to our short stories, voted on a new read aloud - City of Ember, played Multiplication Connect 4, worked on a math strategy involving halfing numbers, continued on our social studies project about historical sites in Alberta, and did an art activities about zentangles. UPDATES & REMINDERS:  No school Friday (PD Day) or Monday (Victoria Day holiday).  Please remember to print off and send back field trip forms.  If you do not have access to a working printer, have your child ask me to print one off for them... I am happy to do that!

 Today we... read with our reading groups, worked on finishing up catch-up jobs, watched the grade 1 assembly about the season of Spring, and had a class meeting. UPDATES & REMINDERS: No school next Friday (PD Day) and Monday, May 20th (Victoria Day). Also, we will be going on a field trip on June 3 to Fort Calgary.  An email was sent out to parents with more details about the trip and the form/fees associated with the trip.  Anyone parents/guardians who are able to volunteer, please email me and let me know!  Thanks so much!

 Today we... created and shared something that we love about our mom, worked on writing the main event of our short stories, read from A Wolf called Wander, tried an Esti-Mystery for math, traded and solved word problems we created related to our food menus, worked on our social studies assignment related to historical sites in Alberta, and had music with Ms. Bohan. UPDATES & REMINDERS: Wear your hats on Wednesday for Hats-On for Mental Health!

 Today we... watched a performance by Quest Theatre, worked on finishing activities from throughout the week, played numeracy games with a partner, and had a class meeting. UPDATES & REMINDERS: Wednesday, May 8th is Hats-on for Mental Health day!

 Today we... presented our earth day building challenges, learned about how to write the main event of a short story, read from A Wolf called Wander, went inline skating with Mr. Parson's, worked on our Historical Sites in Alberta assignment, and had music with Ms. Bohan. UPDATES & REMINDERS:  Quest Theater will be here Friday to perform a play for the school!
